Division achieves highest patient satisfaction rating in Health SystemThe Division of General Vascular Surgery achieved the highest level of patient satisfaction in the entire Ohio State University Health System during fiscal year 2007. Of vascular surgery patients, 92.3 percent gave a satisfaction rating of 9 or 10 on a scale of 10.
Within the Health System as a whole, the average percentage of patients giving a rating of 9 or 10 was 81.4 percent. General Vascular Surgery is led by Dr. Patrick S. Vaccaro, professor of clinical surgery and division chief. In addition to Vaccaro, who has been listed in the Consumers’ Research Council of America Guide to America’s Top Surgeons, the attending faculty in the division are Dr. B. Mohan Das, assistant professor of clinical surgery; Dr. Bhagwan Satiani, professor of clinical surgery; Dr. William L. Smead, the Luther M. Keith professor of surgery; Dr. Jean E. Starr, assistant professor of clinical surgery; and Dr. Blair D. The division’s clinical services include a comprehensive general vascular surgery service, an endovascular surgery program, an arterial surgery clinic, a venous surgery clinic, and a laser surgery clinic for varicose veins. Its primary base of operation is the Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital. During the 2006–2007 fiscal year, the division admitted 1,044 patients, performed 1,757 operating room procedures, and received 7,376 outpatient visits. |
