About the Division

Mission

The Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery is dedicated to the achievement of excellence in patient care, medical education and clinical training, and clinical research.

The Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery was formed in July 2012.  This newly created division consists of faculty members who were previously a part of the Division of General and Gastrointestinal Surgery.  The creation of a separate division devoted to the treatment of benign and malignant colon and rectal disease will allow the team to set standards of patient care that are delivered consistently, streamlining the care for our patients.  It also allows for growth potential through new faculty recruitment and expanded educational opportunities for both residents and fellows.  All faculty members in the division are board certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery, and each has completed a residency in Colon and Rectal Surgery.  Providing specialized care to our patients, as well as teaching the next generation of surgeons the care and treatment of colorectal diseases, is a top priority of the Division.
