Welcome to the Comprehensive Hernia Center at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Our surgeons specialize in all types of hernia repair using either an open technique or laparoscopic or minimally invasive approach.
It is estimated that 250,000 hernias are repaired in the United States each year. Depending on the complexity, hernia surgery is performed on either an outpatient or inpatient basis. Usually, patients can expect a quick road to recovery and ability to return to normal activities. Each year, surgeons from Ohio State perform approximately 1,000 hernia repairs affording them expertise and experience in both common and complex repairs. Our team has over 123 years of combined experience. Our multidisciplinary group offers patients a thorough, individualized, comprehensive evaluation to determine the best surgical procedure to suit their needs while using the latest science, techniques, and data to minimize complications.
