Dr. Charles Cook, associate professor of surgery, continues NIH-funded research examining cytomegalovirus (CMV) reactivation during critical illness and after transplantation. His laboratory recently published a notable article in the American Journal of Transplantation suggesting that cytomegalovirus reactivation can disrupt development of tolerance after heart transplantation.
