Patients with life-threatening illnesses and injuries benefit from The Ohio State University Medical Center’s tradition of excellence in patient care, education, and research. We’re one of the only established Centers for Critical Care in the United States. Our Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) –- the only dedicated SICU in Central Ohio –- is ranked among the nation’s top performers, according to a University HealthSystem Consortium comparative study.

In addition, Ohio State offers specialized care services including: the only adult burn center in Central Ohio, the only emergency department in Central Ohio with hyperbaric medicine facilities designated specifically for emergency care, and the only Comprehensive Wound Center in Central Ohio. Designated as a Level 1 trauma center by the American College of Surgeons, Ohio State’s Medical Center is widely recognized for its expertise in the care of trauma patients, with on-site physicians in more than 40 medical specialties.
